The Westport and Sunrise Rotary Clubs will hold a World Polio Day Program from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 24, in the McManus Room of Westport Public Library, 20 Jesup Road.

The clubs will present a program on the disease's history and the progress the world has made and Rotary International's efforts in reaching eradication, according to a release. Members of the community will share personal stories of how their lives have been impacted by this disease.

A video of a polio survivor will be shown and a reading from a book written by a polio victim will be given as well.

Dianne Wildman from News Channel 12 will host the event.

Anyone who has been touched by polio is welcome to come and be part of this program, the release states.

Governor Daniel P. Malloy declared World Polio Day on Wednesday, Oct. 24, and the week of Oct. 22 to Oct. 28 as End Polio Now Week.

The program is free and light refreshments will be served.
