The town's annual Independence Day fireworks celebration will light up the skies over Compo Beach next Wednesday, July 3.

The post-sundown event is organized by the Westport Police Athletic League and the Parks and Recreation Department.

Tickets are needed to gain entry to the parking lot at the beach. Otherwise there is satellite parking -- served by shuttle buses -- at the Longshore Club. Access to the fireworks show will be via Compo Road South only

Any remaining tickets are $35 per car, and available at Police Department headquarters, 50 Jesup Road, and the Parks and Recreation office, 260 Compo Road South.

Traffic along the lower half of Compo Road South will be one way going north after the fireworks are over.

The rain date for the fireworks is Friday, July 5.
