Robert Gordon Miner, a former Westport resident, died Dec. 26, 2010, in Jacksonville, Fla.

Born on Jan. 29, 1923 in Blue Island, Ill., he served during World War II, retiring from military service with the rank of colonel. He graduated from the University of Chicago with a master's degree in business administration.

He became a magazine publisher and editor in New York, and after residing in Westport many years, he moved to Mechanicsburg, Pa., where he published Early American Life, a magazine devoted to antiques and old house restoration. He was also a columnist for various publications, a radio personality and author of many books.

Survivors include his wife Betty and their children Patricia, Stephen and David, and many grandchildren.
