The penultimate race of the Road Runners season took place last Saturday as Devin Kelly, of New York City, won his first Road Runners leading 158 runners across a 9.3 mile course with a winning time of 53:56. Westport’s Kate Pfeffer was the first woman to cross the line, clocking in at 1:02:02 and good for 10th overall.

Norwalk’s Patrick Cavanaugh and Fairfield’s Matthew Scholl crossed the line in second and third respectively with times of 55:44 and 57:53. Second and third places in the women’s division were awarded to Westport’s Sarah Caputo, 35th in 1:08:50 and Emily Lewson, of Ridgefield, 37th in 1:09:36. Other Westport-Weston residents who finished in the top 10 were Paul Greenberg, seventh in 1:00:30, and Nicholas Avello, eighth in 1:00:50.

The final Road Runners race will be held on Saturday, Sept. 5 at 8 a.m. with a 10 mile race starting at Staples High School.
