Last Saturday James Osborn, of Ridgefield won his first Road Runners race of the season, leading 142 runners across a 6.8 mile course with a winning time of 40:45. Wilton’s Mary Zengo was the first woman to cross the line, clocking in at 43:13.

New York’s Michael Diblasi and Stamford’s Leo Biala crossed the line in second and third respectively with times of 41:02 and 42:23. Second and third places in the women’s division were awarded to fellow Westporters Kate Pfeffer in ninth place and Sarah Caputo in 22nd place with the respective times of 44:35 and 50:13. Other Westport-Weston residents who finished in the top 10 were Paul Greenberg, sixth in 43:39, Nick Avello, seventh in 43:50, and David Allen, 10th in 44:49.

The next scheduled Road Runners race will be held on Saturday, August 22nd at 8 a.m. with a 8.4 mile race starting at Burying Hill Beach. Some participants may park in the Burying Hill Beach Parking Lot. However, parking is very limited and it is strongly requested that all participants arrive early and park at the Greens Farms Railroad Station parking lot which is located a quarter mile north of the beach.

Applications for and information about the Road Runners program are available at the recreation offices at Longshore Club Park, at the start of each Saturday’s race, or at the Program’s website located at westportroadrunners.org.
