The old saying goes, that there are only two things guaranteed in life: taxes and death. But a third thing should be added to the list...adversity.
No matter the road in life, the cruelty of adversity is sure to be somewhere near trying to hitch a ride. While most people try their hardest to stay clear of any semblance of it — the reality is that adversity will be there regardless of the efforts to keep it at bay.
In one of the purest forms of sports and life intertwining, teams face adversity all the time. But as in life, the true test of the making of a team comes from the response to the rough patches.
Whether it is a tough loss or a slew of injuries that can seem to derail a once promising season, fighting back through the hard luck times can make or break a season.
While acknowledging that it won’t always be rainbows and sunshines during the a season — especially playing in the FCIAC — it is up to the players to be able to right the ship.
The importance of bouncing back from tough times and having the right level of tenacity can go along way in reaching the end goal of a title.
