The Recorder Society of Connecticut will begin its fall season Sept. 10 with a workshop for two groups -- low intermediate and high intermediate players -- at the Unitarian Church, 10 Lyons Plains Road. The workshop runs from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., and doors open at 9:30 a.m.

Ensemble coaches include Susan Iadone, a recorder and viola da gamba instrumentalist and music director of the society who teaches recorder at St. David's School in New York.

The second coach is Amy Herbitter, director of the Morris Consort in New Jersey who has also conducted the New York Recorder Guild.

The emphasis will be on Renaissance and Baroque music. Participants need to bring their recorders and music stands. Music is provided.

Newcomers are welcome.
