It was big, really big. Giant, in fact.

From vintage antiques and furniture to clothing, books and housewares, the annual "Giant Tag Sale" at the United Methodist Church of Westport and Weston had something to intrigue just about everyone.

The two-day sale, coordinated by the church women's group, also offered artwork, toys, sports equipment, kitchenware, music and home furnishings. All sale items were donated by church members and local residents.

"This is one of our biggest fundraisers, with 100 percent of proceeds going to our church's missions," said Jeanne Galvin, co-president of the United Methodist Women's group. "Those missions include the Mercy Learning Center, Project Learn, Christian Community Action, the Women's Domestic Violence Center in Norwalk and the Women's Prisons Ministries."

The sale typically raises about $10,000 for the missions, according to Galvin.

The event continues from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at the church, 49 Westport Road.
