Metro-North rail traffic controllers stopped an Amtrak Acela train before it struck a car that had run across a rail embankment and landed on the New Haven Line's outbound track Wednesday afternoon, Metro-North spokeswoman Marjorie Anders said.
The name of the driver of the car and any injuries were not immediately available, Anders said.
Metro-North received a report around 2:15 p.m. about a car running up the embankment from the lot of Joe's Dinner on Stratford Avenue onto Track 4, Anders said.
Service was suspended on all four tracks for a short time to remove the vehicle, Anders said.
