Reading, old-style: Paper. Pulp. Vintage.

No e-readers, tablets or smart phones need apply at this two-day event hosted by the Westport Library: its Vintage Paperback Book Sale.

A catalogue of nearly 5,000 titles is on offer, starting with James B. Adair's "Deepcore 1" and ending with David Zindell's "The Wild?" Check out the complete catalogue here: http://bit.ly/1czU2tu

After a full day Saturday, the sale is scheduled to continue Sunday from 1 to 5 p.m.

All of the books were donated by a single local collector. "He gave us an Excel file a couple of weeks ago, with all the authors, titles and book numbers listed," said book sale volunteer Mimi Greenlee. "We put this up online to excite collectors in advance of the sale."

Other titles -- primarily from the 1950s and '60s -- range from "Valley of the Flame" to "Dr. Cyclops" and "The Creature from Beyond Infinity," with the distinctive cover illustrations designed to lure customers. Many of the books inspired television shows and movies from the era of their popularity.
