Middle-school students will have an opportunity to explore the face and portraiture in a hands-on portrait workshop led by Bedford Middle School art teacher Cecily Anderson.

"Portrait Workshop for Kids," will be offered on Sunday, April 27, from 2:30 to 4 p.m. in the Westport Library.

Students will investigate portraits as a genre and explore what techniques artists use. Then, using both drawing and collage techniques, the students will create portraits of their own.

Enrollment in the portrait workshop is limited to 20 students.

The workshop is being given in conjunction with the exhibit "Face to Face: Portraits from WSPAC as It Turns 50." The exhibit includes more than 20 portraits.

Also in conjunction with the exhibit, Westport Art Curator Kathie Bennewitz will lead a guided tour of WSPAC holdings in four schools and in Town Hall, which will conclude with a tour of the "Face to Face" exhibit on Saturday, May 10, from 1 to 4 p.m.

Visit www.westportlibrary.org or call 203-291-4800 to register for the free portrait workshop and to reserve a spot on the tour, which costs $30.
