Police have released surveillance camera images of a man who attempted to rob a patron outside the CVS Pharmacy on Post Road East Monday night.

The incident took place about 7:15 p.m. as a Weston woman, who had been shopping at the CVS, 397 Post Road East, was confronted by a man as she left.

The man -- described as thin, white, and wearing dark pants and a gray, hooded sweatshirt -- followed the woman into the parking lot and grabbed the strap of her handbag. The woman was dragged onto the ground as the man tried to wrest the handbag from her, police said.

When the woman began screaming, her assailant released his grip, leapt into the passenger side of a waiting car that fled from the scene.

The woman, who was unable to provide a detailed description of the man to police, declined medical treatment despite being dragged a short distance.

The suspect remained at large as of Tuesday.
