An uninvited guest ruined a newlywed couple's wedding reception Saturday night when he stole a collection of gift envelopes during the celebration at the Inn at Longshore.
Police are hunting for the male suspect -- releasing surveillance camera images of the man Monday -- who posed as an inn guest. The suspect was observed loitering in the lobby of the inn, talking on his cellphone and, at one point, grabbing a decorative birdcage that was used to collect wedding cards and gift envelopes for the newlyweds, according to police.
He fled from the inn on foot, and remained at large even though police set up a perimeter around the Longshore property and searched the grounds, with assistance from a Norwalk police K-9.
Only the empty birdcage was found later.
The suspect is described as a white male, 25 to 35 years old, clean shaven, with close-cropped, light brown hair.
At the time of the incident, police said he was dressed in gray slacks, a white or light gray shirt and white undershirt.
Anyone with information about the man's identity or the incident is asked to contact the Police Department at 203-341-6000
