WESTPORT — A town resident allegedly smashed evidence while being arrested Jan. 12.
An officer stopped the 37-year-old’s car on Interstate 95 because a brake light was out, and he then found a crack pipe in Vosgueritchian’s pocket during a search, according to police. Police said Charles Vosgueritchian was handcuffed when he managed to knock a crack pipe to the ground, step on and break the evidence.
Police charged Vosgueritchian, a resident of West Parish Road in Westport, with tampering with evidence, possession of drug paraphernalia and interfering with an officer. He was released on a $2,500 bond ahead of a Jan. 19 court date.
