Boston woman charged with shoplifting

Diep Quach, 48, of Boston, was charged with sixth-degree larceny after allegedly attempting to steal a black blazer from Antropologie on Sept. 22, police said.

The Post Road East clothing store called police after detaining Quach when she set off the security alarm while trying to exit the store, according to the report. A search warrant for her vehicle was obtained and police reportedly found several items of stolen clothing from various other stores.

Quach was released on $50,000 bond. She is scheduled to appear in Norwalk Superior Court on Oct. 1.

Westport man charged in domestic dispute

A Westport man was arrested on a warrant Thursday in relation to an incident of domestic abuse.

Ward Kaye, 46, of Post Road East, was charged with third-degree strangulation, third-degree assault, possession of controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia. Police said Kaye allegedly grabbed his wife by the throat and attempted to strangle her. When officers arrived on the scene, they reportedly discovered a marijuana pipe in his possession, with marijuana residue inside it, police said.

Kaye was released on a $25,000 bond. He is scheduled to appear in Norwalk Superior Court on Oct. 4.

Dinner date ends in arrest

Harold Curran, 56, was charged with third-degree assault after allegedly striking a woman he was on a date with at the River House Tavern on Thursday night, police said.

Curran, of Nassau Road, reportedly fled the restaurant and police took him into custody without incident a short distance away. He was released on $5,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in Norwalk Superior Court on Oct. 27.

Stratford woman charged with larceny

Police arrested Merri Middlemass, 50, on a warrant at her Stratford residence on Friday in relation to a bad check she allegedly issued to the Top Drawer clothing store in July.

Middlemass was charged with issuing a bad check and sixth-degree larceny. She was released on $500 bond and is scheduled to appear in Norwalk Superior Court on Oct. 4.

Shoplifting charges levied against Rowayton woman

A Rowayton woman was arrested after allegedly shoplifting from the Antropologie clothing store Friday, police said.

The Post Road East store called police at 12:30 p.m. when Priscilla McAughan set off the door security alarm while attempting to leave the store. Police searched McAughan's car and found several other allegedly stolen items. She was charged with possession of a shoplifting device and fifth-degree larceny.

Released on a $500 bond, McAughan is scheduled to appear in Norwalk Superior Court Oct. 4.

Accident leads

to DUI arrest

Sidney Obando, 35, of Norwalk, was charged with operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol after

police responded to a traffic accident on Riverside Avenue on Sunday at 9:40 p.m.

Officers reportedly detected an odor of alcohol on Obando's breath. He was taken into custody without incident and submitted to breathalyzer tests, police said. Obando was also charged with failure to drive in the proper lane.

He posted $1,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in Norwalk Superior Court on Oct. 6.
