WESTPORT — A Bridgeport man was arrested Feb. 10 after an officer saw his car bearing an invalid license plate as he drove through town.

Police said George Wilson was driving on Myrtle Avenue on the afternoon of Feb. 10 with canceled registration plates meant for another make of car. Wilson had been ordered not to drive and he failed to meet other requirements to be on the road, according to police.

Police arrested the 27-year-old resident of Hansen Road in Bridgeport and charged him with misuse of plates, operating an unregistered vehicle, insurance coverage failing minimum requirements and illegal operation of a motor vehicle under suspension. Wilson was also arrested on a charge of second-degree failure to appear, based on a state police warrant, Westport Police said.

Wilson was released on a $7,500 bond ahead of a Feb. 21 court date.
