Westport Country Playhouse has received a $20,000 grant from the Fairfield County Community Foundation for general operating support of the nonprofit organization's 2013 season.

The professional theater, which serves an estimated annual audience of 60,000, will present five plays from late April to late October -- A.R. Gurney's "The Dining Room"; "The Show-Off," by George Kelly; "Loot," by Joe Orton; Carly Mensch's "Oblivion" and Allen Boretz's "Room Service."

During the summer, the playhouse is also home to the Woodward Internship Program for aspiring theater professionals. It also offers events outside of the main season from November through March during "Winter at the Playhouse," such as Family Festivities presentations, Script in Hand play readings and a holiday festival.

The Norwalk-based foundation has awarded more than $151 million in grants to nonprofits in the county and beyond.
