The Westport Country Playhouse will host a free block party on Saturday, April 13, to promote its 2013 season.
The outdoor party at the 25 Powers Court theater is planned from 4 to 7 p.m. and will feature vendors selling food and beverages, self-guided tours of the theater, plus games and activities for children, the playhouse said.
The 2013 season features five plays, and several box-office promotions offering reduced-price tickets will be available during the party.
Three local food trucks, Skinny Pines Pizza, LobsterCRAFT and Christophe's Crepes, will be on site. Beaver Beer will provide a free tasting of their brews, and Shake Shack will offer complimentary custard, the playhouse said.
The theater's 2013 lineup includes "The Dining Room," a story of the American family and its vanishing traditions set in the most singular of rooms; "The Show-Off," a comedy about a family in upheaval when the youngest daughter becomes engaged to a brash loudmouth; "Loot," a British farce about larcenous and lascivious behavior among the English middle classes; "Oblivion," a modern tale of parents, children and the gulf that sometimes exists between them; and "Room Service," an American farce about a producer and his ragtag bunch of actors who try to raise money for a Broadway show as they scramble to evade their hotel bill.
