An exhibit by a Westport photographer will be on display Friday to Sept. 30 at Westport Public Library, 20 Jesup Road. A reception for the artist will be held at 5 p.m. Friday in the library's Great Hall, and is free and open to the public. Use the library's upper-level entrance after 6 p.m.

Guy Sherman, born and raised in Honolulu, Hawaii, and California, moved to Westport with his wife, Sunny, after retiring from a 25-year career in fashion and advertising photography in New York City. He now travels the world, photographing subjects he feels passionate about.

His library exhibit, "Color/Texture" will feature photographs from Hawaii, California and Westport.

After two years in the military in Vietnam, Sherman enrolled in the Art Center College of Design in Los Angeles, majoring in photography. Upon graduation, he spent six months driving and shooting around Europe and North Africa before returning to the U.S. to open a commercial photography studio in New York City.
