The Fairfield County Sports Commission announced its 2015 Sports Persons of the Year in each of the 16 communities the Commission directly serves.

In Westport, Vermont graduate and Columbus Blue Jackets defender Mike Paliotta took home the award for making his NHL debut for the Chicago Blackhawks at the end of the 2014/15 season. Paliotta logged 12:45 ice time and scored an assist.

The Blackhawks drafted Paliotta in the third round of the 2011 draft. Paliotta played four years at Vermont, and was traded to Columbus in the offseason.

The honorees will be recognized at the 11th annual Sports Night awards dinner, Monday, October 19 at the Hyatt Regency in Greenwich at 6 p.m.
