On the market: Rambling Colonial

The 1993 Colonial at 438 Country Club Road in New Canaan is large, rambling and convenient to town.
It makes eager use of its lot by offering a spacious driveway that circles around some centered birch trees. There's an attached two-car garage, and the front along the road is lined with forsythia bushes and trees. The back is separated with a white picket fence and garden archway.
There are two entrances. The first leads in by the garage to the kitchen area. It's a great space to start, as the sunken living area ahead is incredibly cozy, with its fireplace and lots of built-in shelves in the surrounding area. It also has twin sash windows that look down the hill in the back, giving a great sense of a view.
To the left, two sets of French doors open onto a long patio, half covered by an overhang, circled by a stone wall that separates a beautiful and substantial parcel of hillside yard. The patio also is viewable through a curving wall of sash windows from the dining room, which features dentil molding, French doors and two sets of sconces.
The main hall is dominated by an arching, open staircase. Left of this, more French doors lead to a smaller formal living room with additional open access and a fireplace. The ceilings are high and the floor is dark oak.
The landing at the top of the stairs is spacious. To the left, the master bedroom feels large, aided by many big windows, one of which offers a sitting area. The bathroom has a separate shower and spa tub with soaking capabilities.
