Extraordinary craftsmanship and remarkable details combine to create a newly constructed 11-room house on a level, 1-acre property off Kings Highway North in a premier location in the town's Old Hill neighborhood.

The Colonial at 4 Old Hill Farms Road has five fireplaces, including one outside on the rear stone patio built into the home's chimney. From a distance, this house, with its cedar wood shingle, stone and masonry exterior, resembles a storybook cottage, but with 7,114-square feet of living space, there is no mistaking it for a small-scale residence.

Built in 2012 by Coastal Construction, designer Amy Ringer and architect Don Fairbanks, this house is conveniently located near downtown Westport, not far from the Saugatuck train station and within easy walking distance of Earthplace nature center, which features hiking trails and educational nature programs. The Post Road and its many retail stores and restaurants is also not far, and yet, this house is set in a very private and quiet neighborhood.

The front fa├žade has a gracefully curved roof line above the covered front porch and the curvature is repeated above it in the form of an arched eyebrow-style window. The front entrance is flanked by sidelights.

The two-story foyer offers a glimpse of the rest of the house with its custom moldings and oak flooring. The interior showcases detailed millwork, ten-foot ceilings, and proportioned living areas.

The house has an ideal entertainment flow and all the amenities that allow for day-to-day living as well as upscale entertaining. There is ample attached parking to accommodate a large number of guests.

In addition to the formal living room, the first floor features a paneled library, a formal dining room with Wainscoting on the lower portion of the walls and raised millwork design on the ceiling, a family room with a coffered-ceiling, and a gourmet kitchen with a sunny breakfast room; its French doors opening to a flagstone terrace for seasonal outdoor entertaining and al fresco dining.

The kitchen has white cabinetry, marble counters, a large center island, wood floor, professional-grade six-burner range top, and a wall-mounted oven. There is a butler's pantry between the kitchen and dining room with a sink, two sets of marble counters, and cabinets. There is also a walk-in storage pantry.

On the second floor, the master bedroom suite has a private balcony, a fireplace with a yellow brick firebox and granite surround, and a massive walk-in closet with lots of organizers, shelves, and drawers. The master bath features a Carrera marble floor, backsplash and surround of the soaking tub. The same marble comprises the large walk-in shower, which also has a long marble bench and a ledge between the tub and shower areas.

There are four additional family bedrooms on this floor, all with en suite baths, and all with walk-in closets. An upstairs hallway has built-in bookshelves.

The third floor, walk-up finished attic provides a large bonus room with a long built-in window seat.
