Occupants of a Bumpy Lane home suffered burns escaping a fire that erupted Saturday afternoon.

The blaze near the Westport-Wilton border was reported about 4:45 p.m. Saturday, and when firefighters arrived on the scene, heavy fire was visible.

Two of the occupants' burns, described as minor, were evaluated at the Bridgeport Hospital burn unit.

Firefighters deployed multiple hose lines to attack what they described as a "pesky" blaze, and were assisted by Wilton firefighters in dousing the fire. Fairfield fire units provided backup at Westport fire headquarters while all local fire units were on the scene of the fire.

The last Westport fire unit left the scene about 10 p.m.

The cause of the fire is being investigated by the Fire Marshal's Office.
