The Westport Sunrise Rotary Club is accepting applications from nonprofit organizations for financial grants in 2014.

Individual grants ranging from $500 to $2,500 will be awarded to nonprofits "actively involved in Westport, Norwalk, Darien and Bridgeport," the club's Charitable Giving Committee said in a news release.

To qualify, a nonprofit must have a Sunrise Rotary Club member actively involved in its organization, and grant money must be used to provide services, not for administrative or overhead expenses.

Last year, Sunrise Rotary awarded money to 17 nonprofts, according to the release. They included organizations that help children and young adults; people with disabilities, chronic illnesses or recovering from surgery, and those needing fuel assistance during the winter.

This year's recipients and the amounts they will receive will be determined after applications are reviewed, according to the release.

The deadline for applications and all supporting documents is March 15. Their review will be completed by early May, according to the release, and each applicant will be notified of its status by letter.

For applications, email Gene Cederbaum, chairman of the Giving Committee, at gene@cederbaumlaw.com or call him at 203-571-1708.
