The identity of an elderly Westport woman found dead in her High Point Road driveway Thursday morning had not been released as of late Thursday afternoon by police investigators.

The death of the woman -- whose body was discovered about 8 a.m. by a trash collector -- is considered "untimely" by police. However, they said earlier in the day that there was no immediate evidence of foul play found at the scene.

The body has been sent to the Office of the Chief State Medical Examiner in Farmington, where an autopsy will be conducted.

Police Capt. Sam Arciola had declined earlier in the day to make any additional comments on the investigation.

The discovery comes a little less than two months after a 48-year-old woman, Cindy Diauto, was found lying dead in the snow behind an office building on Kings Highway North. That death was attributed to exposure to the frigid weather after she apparently fell in the parking lot.
