A career office-machine sales executive has acquired a Westport painting franchise with the goal of building the business as the region's housing market rebounds.
Ed Villamana has acquired the CertaPro Painters at 1771 Post Road East, part of a national chain based in Oaks, Pa. He took ownership of the franchise from Gregg Rosinsky last month, the company said in a news release.
The local operation has 25 employees and does interior and exterior painting for residential and commercial customers in the Westport, Weston, Fairfield, Bridgeport and Easton areas.
Villamana, 53, worked in office-equipment sales for 25 years, including stints with Sony Corp., Smith Corona Corp., Acer America Corp. and several startups.
The franchise owner said he has lived in the area most of his life, and said it is a good time to enter the painting business.
"We're experiencing a rebound in the housing market, which has a positive effect on our industry," he said in the release.
Local Realtors have reported increases in both home sales and sales prices in recent months as the market begins to rebound from a five-year slump.
Villamana said he hopes to triple the franchise's sales, but the company did not disclose previous sales figures.
In addition to painting services, CertaPro offers power washing, deck treatments, wallpaper removal, dry wall repair, light carpentry, faux painting and free color consultations.
