David Perez is the town’s newest police officer.

Perez, 41, was sworn in last Friday by First Selectman Jim Marpe during a noontime ceremony in Town Hall.

The hiring of the Perez brings the department to full strength, according to Capt. Vincent Penna, police spokesman.

Prior to his hiring by the Westport Police Department, Perez was a police officer with the West Haven Police Department, where he served from November 1999 to January 2014.

While in West Haven, he was assigned to the Patrol Division, Street Crimes Unit, and the Detective Bureau.

He left West Haven to take a position with the Nashville Metro Police Department in Nashville, Tenn., in January 2014. Perez worked on the Nashville force until being hired here.
