Joshua Dennison 23, of Jamaica, N.Y., was charged Monday with trying to use fraudulent credit cards to make purchases in Westport.
Police said Dennison attempted to purchase a gift card at the local Walgreen's with several credit cards, but was unsuccessful. This is kind of purchase is common when using fraudulent credit cards, police said.
When officers stopped the vehicle Dennison was driving, they said they found other credit cards bearing his name. All these cards appeared to be fake, police said. The credit cards all had similar account numbers and all had Dennison's name on them, according to the report.
He was taken into custody and charged with unlawful completion/reproduction of a credit card, illegal use of a credit card and sixth-degree attempted larceny.
He was held on a $10,00 bond for arraignment in Norwalk Superior Court.
