New Westport police officer sworn in

The town's Police Department has a new officer in its ranks.

Brendan Fearon was sworn in by First Selectman Jim Marpe during a Thursday ceremony in Town Hall.

The 25-year-old Fearon, who previously worked for Monroe police, is a resident of Southbury. He is a 2010 graduate of the Massachusetts Maritime Academy with a Bachelor of Science degree in emergency management and homeland security.

Before working in Monroe, he was employed as the emergency management coordinator with the Conference of Boston Teaching Hospitals in Boston, Mass.
