BROOKFIELD -- Local police arrested Joseph Postighone, 42, of 20 Guernsey Lane, New Milford, Tuesday, at 8:47 p.m. and charged him with several counts of drug and motor vehicle violations.
Police said they recorded Postighone traveling 44 miles per hour in a 30-mile-per-hour zone as he approached the Brookfield Four Corners area.
After stopping the vehicle, the officer reportedly smelled the odor of marijuana emanating from the vehicle, and a search was conducted.
According to police, they found three small bags of marijuana, a package of rolling papers, and white pills they said were later identified as Oxycodone that were not in their prescribed container.
Postighone was charged with possession of a controlled substance (non-narcotic), possession a controlled substance (narcotic), traveling unreasonably fast, possession of drug paraphernalia and narcotic kept only in original container.
Postighone was released on a $1,000 bond and is due to appear in court Oct. 16.
