More than 400 Westport students, led by a trio of teachers, took the stage Tuesday night for the annual Townwide Choral Festival at Staples High School.

Under the direction of Luke Rosenberg, who was accompanied on piano by Dalia Lazar, fourth- and fifth-grade students from Westport's five elementary schools, along with Bedford and Coleytown middle school students and the Staples Orphenians, performed 10 songs in the span of an hour before a full house.

Teachers Mary Gardner, Candi Ionoco and Jim Andrews provided accompaniment on one song.

Selections included such classics as "These Are A Few of My Favorite Things" and "What a Wonderful World".

The event has been muscial tradition in Westport's schools for more than 50 years, according to Greens Farms School music teacher Suzanne Propp.
