A Murvon Court mother charged Saturday when police said that her 2-year-old daughter was seen wandering in the street, wearing only light clothing in frigid temperatures, after being left home without adult supervision.
The toddler had no jacket and was wearing only long pajama pants and a long-sleeved tee-shirt and adult slippers, police said. The temperature was in the 20s and the road was covered with snow from the previous night, police said.
Neighbors took the child in and called police, according to the report.
Police said they later learned that the mother, Tinatin Crouch, 43, had left both her children, ages 15 and 2, at home when she went to the store, police said.
The 2-year-old was asleep at the time Crouch left the house, police said. But the toddler wandered out of the house when the teenager fell asleep, police said.
Crouch was charged with risk of injury to a child and released on $500 bond. She is scheduled to appear Feb. 5 in Norwalk Superior Court.
