Westport singer Suzanne Sheridan has planned a concert tribute to Joni Mitchell and Leonard Cohen on Saturday, Sept. 22, at the Unitarian Church in Westport and intends to produce a live-concert CD of the show.

Cohen and Mitchell, both Canadian singer-songwriters, had a brief love affair after they met in 1967. Sheridan has been performing the tribute concert for the past two years from Canada to Australia, according to a news release.

She conceived the concert after reading about Mitchell in Sheila Weller's book about female songwriters of the era, "Girls Like Us," according to the release. Among the songs in the show are Mitchell's "Big Yellow Taxi," "A Case of You" and "The Circle Game" and Cohen's "Hallelujah,' `Bird on a Wire" and "Suzanne."

The New York singer actress Lauren Fox earlier this year put on a similarly themed cabaret show, featuring 16 Mitchell and Cohen songs at the Metropolitan Room in New York City.

CDs of Sheridan's concert may be ordered at the door or by calling 203-222-1441 or emailing rozannegates@optonline.net
