Michael John Morris, 69, the husband of Tera (Coughlin) Morris and a former Westport resident, died July 16 in Norwalk.

Born May 5, 1942, in North Acton, West London, he lived in Maidenhead, England, and Westport before settling in Norwalk.

He was co-chairman of Reader's Digest Young Families, co-owned several national and international children's publishing companies, and had received awards for children's books over a 40-year span. For more than 25 years, he was a lay reader at his church and was a member of various church committees. In later years, he also served as co-warden of the church.

Survivors, in addition to his wife of 14 years, he is survived by three children, Victoria, Christian and Grace; three grandchildren, Jonathan, Kyle and Sage, an aunt Violet; a niece Nicola, and a nephew Richard. He was predeceased by his parents, Bert and Winnie Morris, and a sister Christine.

Services will take place at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, July 30, in Christ and Holy Trinity Church, Westport.
