Visiting Nurse & Hospice of Fairfield County has planned an eight-week bereavement support group for men this fall to help them cope with the loss of a loved one.
The group will meet Monday mornings from 10 to 11:30, beginning Sept. and continuing to Nov. 12, the organization said in a news release. The program is free and open to the public, but pre-registration is required.
"The loss of a loved one is a profound experience and it is not the same for men as for women," the Rev. Karen Judd, an interfaith minister and grief and bereavement counselor with Visiting Nurse said in the release. "Grief can be compounded in men because they are sometimes reluctant to directly address their sadness about loss. In the past, men were traditionally expected to be emotionally controlled and inexpressive."
The group will meet at Visiting Nurse & Hospice offices in Suite 114 at the Health and Wellness Center of Norwalk Hospital at I-Park, 761 Main Ave. in Norwalk at the Wilton town line.
