Elliot Levine, 61, of Milford, was charged with driving under the influence early Wednesday after a minor accident in the parking lot of the Black Duck Cafe on Riverside Avenue, where he reportedly backed into another vehicle.
A police officer smelled alcohol on Levine's breath and asked him to perform field sobriety tests, which Levine did not pass, police said.
Levine was charged with operating under the influence of drugs or alcohol. He was released on $500 bond, and is scheduled to appear March 2 in Norwalk Superior Court.
