A Hartford man faces forgery and larceny charges stemming from an incident at a local bank -- a crime that police said he has carried out in other communities as well.

Victor Brown, 54, of Earle Street in Hartford, was charged with first-degree forgery and fifth-degree larceny in connection with a June 10 incident in which he and three other people attempted to cash forged business checks at a local bank, police said.

"All of the individuals have similar cases pending in multiple jurisdictions for perpetrating similar crimes," according to the report.

Brown turned himself in a police headquarters Thursday morning. He was held on a $20,000 court bond and is scheduled to appear Sept. 1 in Norwalk Superior Court.
