WESTPORT — A 24-year-old man has been charged with shoplifting energy drinks late last year from Super Stop & Shop on Post Road East.
Branden Betas, of Madison Avenue, Bridgeport, was charged last Friday with fourth-degree larceny and conspiracy to commit fourth-degree larceny in connection with the incident. He was charged on a warrant issued by local police while he was held by Newtown police on an unrelated charge.
Betas was recorded by the supermarket’s video surveillance placing energy drinks into a bag last Nov. 26 and leaving the store without paying, police said. He was identified by store security personnel after he was charged with a similar crime at a Stop & Shop in Bridgeport.
Bond was set at $2,500 and Betas is scheduled to appear Feb. 29 at state Superior Court in Norwalk.
