A Fairfield man faces a drunk-driving charge following an accident Saturday night.

David Douglas, 28, of Flora Boulevard, was charged with driving under the influence, operating a motor vehicle under suspension and unsafe tires.

Officers were dispatched to the parking lot of Bridge Square, at the intersection of Bridge Street at Riverside Avenue, about 7 p.m. to investigate a complaint of a possibly intoxicated male.

An investigation revealed that Douglas had driven his vehicle into the parking lot and that it suffered what appeared to be fresh damage and had two flat tires, police said.

Douglas was administered field sobriety tests, which police said he failed.

He was also found to be driving with a suspended operator's license, police said.

Douglas was released after posting $1,000 bond and is scheduled to appear May 12 at state Superior Court in Norwalk.
