A Luau and Family Festival featuring hula and fire dancers — even a pig roast — is planned Saturday at St. Luke parish.
The event, which will raise money for charity, will take place from 2 to 10 p.m. on the parish grounds, 49 North Turkey Hill Road.
Among the other features planned are music throughout the day, games and a water slide for children, a Touch-a-Firetruck attraction, food trucks and performances by hula dancers and fire eaters and dancers in the evening. The event is alcohol-free, according to organizers.
Dinner, served from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m., in addition to the pig roast also includes the option of chicken.
Money raised by the event will benefit a number of charities serving people in need, including Blessed Sacrament Summer Camp, Caroline House Educational Center for women and children, Cancer Survivor's Network, Missionaries of Charity Scholarship Fund, Open Door soup kitchen and the Bridgeport Rescue Mission.
Tickets for admission with the full dinner must be purchased in advance; the deadline is Aug. 16. Costs are: $45 for an adult ticket, $20 for children under 15; Family Pack tickets (three or more tickets, including at least one adult) are selling for $40 for adults, $15 for children.
General admission tickets, which include all entertainment and dining from food carts, can be purchased online or at the gate. They cost $15 for adults and $5 for children.
