'Live Well' to help address health concerns

The Westport Weston Health District will offer "Live Well," a free six-week workshop at the Westport Center for Senior Activities on Thursdays, May 22 through June 26 from 5:30 to 8 p.m. The program, facilitated by specially trained leaders, provides opportunities for interaction and group problem solving for issues experienced by people living with health concerns or conditions. Each week, participants can get practical ways to deal with stress, anxiety and pain; learn about nutrition and exercise; understand new treatment choices; and learn better ways to talk with doctors about health concerns. "Live Well" is designed to address health issues including weight, cholesterol, blood pressure, arthritis, asthma, chronic pain, anxiety, Lyme disease, or the stress of being a caregiver.
"We are more like coaches," said Monica Wheeler, community health director at the health district. "The answer to someone's question usually comes from the participants in the room."
