A car surged into a Post Road East storefront Wednesday afternoon, but there was little damage to either the driver or the building, according to Westport firefighters.

The mishap occurred shortly after 3 p.m. Wednesday when a late-model Lexus ES 300 struck the front of Country Curtains at 1101 Post Road East, firefighters said.

The driver, evaluated at the scene by firefighters and Westport EMS personnel, declined to be brought to the hospital for treatment.

A Building Department official, called to the scene to check the structural integrity of the building, deemed it was safe.

The Lexus was towed from the scene.

The accident is being investigated by Westport police.
