WESTPORT — A reading of “Fat Girls, Interrupted,” a new play by two-time Grammy Award-nominated comedienne/author Lisa Lampanelli, will be staged March 19 at the Westport Country Playhouse.

The reading is set for 8 p.m. in the theater, 25 Powers Court.

Lampanelli, who will participate in the reading, has requested that proceeds benefit the Center for Family Justice in Bridgeport, according to publicity for the event. Others in the cast will be Broadway actress Lisa Howard, television and performer Patricia Kalember and newcomer Jessica Luck.

"Fat Girls, Interrupted" focuses on weight, body image and food issues from the perspective of four women with four different problems, according to the theater. “The play will do for weight and food issues what ‘The Vagina Monologues’ did for women's nether-regions,” Lampanelli said in publicity for the reading.

Lampanelli is a regular on Sirius satellite radio’s “Howard Stern Show,” and has appeared on a series of late-night television talks shows, “Good Morning America” and season five of “Celebrity Apprentice.” Lampanelli has also been nominated twice for Grammy Awards for "Best Comedy Album," and has been featured in six television specials, including her HBO show, "Long Live the Queen."

The event committee includes Roe Chlala, Galia Gichon Clemens, Mary Dobson, Jill Fitzburgh, Jerri Graham, Jane Green, Anne Keefe, Nancy Lessard, Joan Nevin, Kathy Oberman, Anna Rodrigues, Bari Alyse Rudin, Diane Sembrot, Marjorie Treisman, Allison Ziering Walmark and Nancy Wilson.

Tickets cost $25 (tier three seating), $50 (tier two) and $100 (tier one and post-reading “Meet the Cast” dessert reception in the playhouse’s White Barn Center). The reading runs 90 minutes with no intermission.
