It was white, light ... and expected to taper off by early tonight.

The second autumnal snowfall -- winter does not start till Dec. 21 -- dusted Westport and environs Tuesday morning, and the National Weather Service predicts that the storm should move from the region by evening with little or no accumulation in its wake.

As a precaution, however, classes were cancelled by Westport's public schools.

And bundle up, the NWS warns, it will be c-c-cold over the next several days as daytime temperatures are not expected to rise above the freezing mark until Saturday.
