Westport Public Library will host a talk by stage lighting designer and author Richard Pilbrow at 2 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 12, in the library's McManus Room, 20 Jesup Road.

Pilbrow, considered one of the 50 most powerful people in the entertainment technology industry, will talk about his field and his book, "A Theatre Project." He is founder and chairman emeritus of Theatre Projects Consultants, a pre-eminent theater consulting organization, according to a library news release.

Pilbrow worked with the lighting crew on the set of "Our Town" starring Paul Newman at the Westport Country Playhouse. His credits include "A Tale of Two Cities," "Our Town," "The Life," "Showboat" on Broadway, "The Sleeping Beauty" at American Ballet Theatre and The Metropolitan Opera, "The Magic Flute" at LA Opera and many UK National Theatre Company and West End productions. His awards include the 4th Knights of Illumination Lifetime Recognition Award in 2011 and the Southeastern Theatre Conference 2012 Distinguished Career Award.

Pilbrow, born in London, England, lives in Ridgefield.
