Letter: Thanks for making Duck Race a quacking good time

Westport Sunrise Rotary wishes to thank the generous and fun-loving Westport community for their support of our 7th annual Great Duck Race. By your contributions we are able to make an even greater difference in the Rotary mission to save and change lives.
This year on June 13 the day started with the inaugural Great Duck Race 5K Fun Run organized by the Staples Interact Club for the benefit of Homes With Homes. The whole day was filled with family fun activities that included the dunking of local dignitaries. The main event, the Great Duck, was run on time to the delight of hundreds of spectators along the seawall and near the finish near the Ruth Steinkraus Cohen Memorial Bridge. The sight of nearly 2,500 yellow ducks "racing" on the Saugatuck River is always a fun photo op. People said that this was our best Great Duck Race ever.
This fun feel good day resulted in raising funds in support of local charities that do much of the heavy lifting to help the underserved. We thank these charities for their hard work with our time, efforts and grants.
We wish to recognize our many loyal sponsors who contributed to the event. We thank our major sponsors: Castlekeep Investment Advisors, Melissa & Doug, Westport Downtown Merchants Association and Fairfield County Bank. Other generous contributors were: A.J. Penna & Sons, Arezzo Ristorante & Bar, Berchem, Moses & Devlin, P.C., Black Duck Café, Connoisseur Media, David Adam Realty, Eric Zielinsky & Co., Fiona Hodgson, Gabriel Tax & Accounting Services, Gravel Auto Group, Gault Energy, Green Village Initiative, Honda of Westport, New Country Toyota of Westport, Our Town Crier, RHF Company, Summer Street Advisors, Westport Fire Department, Westport Library, Westport Resources and Whole Foods.
We wish all a great summer as we look forward to an even better Great Duck Race next year.
