I would like Jeannie Smith to maintain her position as a member of the Westport Board of Education.

Jeannie is the only candidate with a professional education background. She worked as an elementary school teacher and academic interventionist in Westchester County, N.Y. for over 10 years. Jeannie was an educational consultant in Manhattan before moving to Westport in 2008. Her experience in the classroom and expertise in curriculum development, assessments and standards-based instruction provide a unique perspective to the board.

As a board member this past year, she delivered insights on the proposed curriculum changes for the Common Core Standards and Westport 2025 initiative. During the school budget approval process, Jeannie demonstrated a balanced approach to delivering the best educational experience for the children of Westport in a fiscally responsible manner.

Jeannie's leadership and passion for education will ensure a safe and enriching learning environment to prepare Westport's children for success in the 21st century.

Jeannie and her husband Dave have four children between the ages of two and seven. She looks forward to serving on the Westport Board of Education and continuing to be actively involved in the Westport Public Schools for many years to come.

Please consider voting for Jeannie Smith, the "Educator for the Westport Board of Education".
