I've known Glenn Payne for years. He's a person who I've counted on for insights into matters great and small. He frequently comes up with answers and ideas that go against the prevailing thinking until the rest of us catch up. He's just the sort of thorough, unbiased leader that Westport needs, and I'm very pleased that he's decided to give back to the town his valuable time and experience.
Westport needs Glenn. I am concerned that the Planning and Zoning Commission has lost its focus and forgotten that planning is important. I would be excited to see the changes that could take place were Glenn and his nonpartisan running mates to take office.
I live in Westport because I enjoy the vibrancy of its people and our many assets. I've seen the positive changes that a P&Z Commission that understands planning can bring. Knowing Glenn, I have no doubt that he would bring his intellectual rigor and passion for finding the right answer to help bring great decisions and improvements to our town. I urge Westport to think beyond traditional party lines and support intelligent people of action for this very important commission. We need Glenn Payne on the P&Z.
