Education reform was a front-burner issue this year, as state legislators took on the glaring achievement gap that exists between high-and-low performing districts. Connecticut currently has the largest achievement gap of any state.

Rep. Gail Lavielle stood out during this debate as someone who was determined to find a solution that would truly make a difference. She met with all interested parties -- teachers, parents, students, administrators -- to try and drill down to the underlying problems. As a result of this due diligence, Gail was a strong voice for meaningful reform. Conversely, many of her colleagues took a predictable approach of trying to solve the problem by throwing more money into the schools.

Gail's leadership during the education debate is one of many examples in which she has established herself as someone who takes the time to truly understand the issues, and to work for real solutions. She deserves reelection.
