When my husband, Frank Jacoby, a filmmaker and longtime Westport resident, died in October, many of his friends and associates asked what they could do to honor his memory and support the organizations he loved.

Their requests have been answered perfectly by Maxine Bleiweis, executive director of the Westport Library. She has established a fund in Frank's name which will be used to purchase films and books about film. Not only will the Frank Jacoby Film Fund serve to remind people of his many years of volunteer work, but it will also help the library to keep its collections current. Frank and I have been presenting two film series each year since the summer of 2001, and I'll continue that as long as I can.

This is an open letter to thank Ms. Bleiweis and to urge anyone who wants to do something to honor Frank's memory to support this new fund and to join us for the summer and winter film series free of charge.
